Although collision crash physics really a focus of the game so the most that'll happen is it will couple to you and join you for the ride until you sort it out. (But I recall that if you stopped a train and drove another without applying the handbrake on the previous it would end up moving on its own and risk crashing into you. You can easily operate multiple locomotives by simply clicking on one, turning the DCC dial, then switching to another and do the same. That wouldn't come until the release Trz2004)
